Scott Davisson knows a good concept when he sees one. Especially when it involves his kids. Davisson is co-owner of Acclivity, a New Jersey based software development company.
Davisson recently contacted Fern Bass with a great idea. Scott wanted someone to help his kids, Zoe and Mason create paintings of 2 of Acclivity’s product logos. The idea was to have these paintings hang in Acclivity’s new Tribeca development studio. Scott wanted pieces of art that had that wonderful texture and feel of children’s art.
Bass, an artist and former art director was happy to help. “It was part teaching the kids about color mixing, light, shadow and perspective, and part art direction”, said Bass who runs Bass Arts Studio, an art school where she teaches painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media to kids, teens and adults.
A few days later, Scott showed up at her studio with 2 children and 2 40” x 40“ canvases and pictures of his products. Zoe is a 5th grader and Mason a 3rd grader at Watchung Elementary school. Mason was commissioned to create a painting of Checkout, point of sale software for the Mac. Zoe was in charge of Enstore, an online e-commerce platform that allows small business owners to sell their products online. According to Fern, “Mason and Zoe were great to work with, and very professional!”.
